Hi, I’m Laura. I’m an 8E and I’m the founder of BounceDown — swimwear designed specifically for women with D+ boobs who love to move.
This brand was born out of frustration, to be honest. I've been a member of Swanbourne Surf Lifesaving Club in Western Australia for almost 15 years, and every year we do our annual “run-swim-run” as part of our yearly requalification. Its a beach run, followed by an ocean swim, followed by another beach run. Sounds amazing, right? Except with an E-cup bust… it was awful. I hated it. My boobs were flinging all over the place, bouncing everywhere. No swimsuit I owned could hold me in, and I didn’t want to layer a sports bra under everything just to feel somewhat secure. It just wasn’t working.
That’s when I thought: why not make a swimsuit that actually suits my needs? Surely I’m not the only one who feels like this.
Turns out, I wasn’t.
The Problem With “Normal” Swimwear
Every swimsuit I tried before BounceDown had one thing in common: a total lack of support. Tiny straps that dig in. “Shelf bras” that offer no support whatsoever. And worst of all, suits that forced me to size down just to keep my boobs somewhat in place — which meant being squashed, restricted, and uncomfortable.
Nothing was made for big busts. Nothing was designed for active women who want to swim, surf, paddle, or dive in with confidence.
Creating a Solution — and a Brand That Means Something
What started as a side hustle quickly became something I think about 24/7. BounceDown has grown into more than just a swimsuit — it’s a brand I hope women can count on.
I wanted to build something special for all the busty, active women who are currently making do with workarounds — like doubling up on bras or avoiding the water altogether. You deserve better.
And I made a promise early on, especially to the amazing women who reached out and said, “We need this.” I promised them: I won’t give up.
It has taken years of design and testing to create a swimsuit that prioritises our boobs!! And that support is at the very heart of everything we do at BounceDown.
The Women Who Wear BounceDown
The kind of women who wear BounceDown are courageous, adventurous, and wild about the ocean. They’re lifeguards, swimmers, athletes, surfers — and women who just want to move their bodies freely without worrying about their bust.
These women inspire me every day. And I didn’t want their swimwear to be an afterthought — I wanted it to empower them.
Sustainability Matters
The ocean is my happy place, so it was crucial that BounceDown was built with care for the environment. Our swimwear is made with ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon made from discarded fishing nets and ocean plastic. Our packaging is recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable. And we work with manufacturers who align with our values of ethics, sustainability, and slow fashion.
I don’t want our suits to end up in landfill next year. I want them to last you years — to support you through season after season of ocean dips, pool sessions, and wild swims.
To My Younger Self…
If I could say anything to the younger version of me, it would be: believe in yourself. I’ve always struggled with imposter syndrome — always doubted whether I could pull something like this off.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that when you work hard and stick to your values, you can build something amazing.
What’s Next
My vision for BounceDown is simple:
To become the go-to brand for active, busty women all over the world. To keep creating gear that fits, performs, and empowers. To continue listening, learning, and growing with this incredible community.
And most of all — to make sure no woman ever has to wear a sports bra under her swimsuit again. 💙
