For anyone who doesn’t know you yet, can you tell us a little about yourself and your swimming background?
I grew up doing loads of sport and swimming. My Mum always made sure we did all the lessons, pool and the beach. I came back to swimming in 2019 with a coach to get some technique and fitness, been swimming ever since.
What made you decide to enter the Swanny Ocean Classic this year?
I won the entry into the event from BounceDown, which I am so grateful for. It was an incredible swim I will definitely add it to my calendar for next year
This was your first event swimming in BounceDown. I know in past events you’ve mentioned having some memorable wardrobe malfunctions. Can you tell that story and how this experience was different with BounceDown?
Ha ha ha definitely had some issues with other brands. Being a D-DD bust (depending on brands) I always have issues with my bust literally coming out of my bathers. Last year the thin straps of my bathers didn't hold anything in. So, during the Busso Jetty swim my boobs were out on display the whole event! Glad to say this year in BounceDown my bathers didn't move an inch. All secured and safe!
Did feeling more secure and supported change how you swam or how confident you felt out there?
I felt so secure! The high neck and cups inside the bathers are perfect. I haven't had an issue at all since I have been wearing my BounceDown bathers. They are super comfortable and supportive, don't cut in anywhere or bother me at all, so soft and buttery
What was the hardest part of the swim for you and what moment are you most proud of?
The hardest part of the swim was the start in the middle of the ocean, I haven’t done one of those before. Navigating around others was also a new challenge for me. This event I actually swam a personal best so I am super pumped about that!
Did having the BounceDown community both online and at the event change the experience for you at all? And in what ways?
The sense of community was amazing, connecting with new people and supporting a brand that supports us as well. I also love that the BounceDown bathers are made of recycled plastics. Even other ladies asking me questions about the bathers builds connections as well.
Who was your biggest supporter in this event?
My husband, as always, he is an incredible support in everything I do.
What would you say to another woman with a bigger bust who is thinking about entering her first ocean swim but feels nervous?
Definitely get a pair of bathers that feel comfortable and supportive. Just start, even if it's 100m, just take a breath and start. Take one step at a time, before you know it you will achieve incredible things. Take it stroke by stroke, Reach out to others and connect and find your people.
What’s next for you after Swanny? Any swims or personal goals coming up?
After Swanny, l'm competing in a 51km running race in 17 hours. Also the Busselton Jetty Swim, where I’ll have my BounceDown bathers supporting me again!
