Swimming is more than just a sport—it’s a way to connect with yourself, the ocean, and the people around you. For Jordi, a sexologist and endurance athlete from Perth, swimming has become an essential part of her life, bringing her calmness, confidence, and community.
With the Port to Pub Duo coming up in March, we caught up with Jordi to chat about her swimming journey, what motivates her, and why finding the right swimwear has been a game-changer.
A Late Start, But A Deep Connection
Jordi has only been swimming for five years, but in that short time, it’s become a fundamental part of who she is. She describes it as a way to find calmness, appreciation for nature, and a reminder to be grateful for her health. Her favourite place to train? Albany, her hometown, where she gets to share the experience with her dad. But when in Perth, nothing beats Cottesloe swimming over the reef with her gal pals.
Lessons From the Ocean
For Jordi, swimming isn’t just about fitness or endurance—it’s taught her something far more personal.
Swimming has taught me that I'm truly a calmer and more grounded, grateful version of myself when I've been in the sea.
It’s a powerful reminder of how the ocean has a way of resetting the mind and bringing clarity, something so many of us can relate to.
Finding the Right Fit
As a D+ boobed swimmer, finding a swimsuit that actually works has been a struggle—until she tried BounceDown.
My BounceDown swimsuit helps me swim because I don't spend half of my set readjusting my boobs! I didn't realise how I refitted my bathers every couple of 100 metres until I suddenly didn't have to do it anymore!
The right fit means freedom to focus on swimming instead of discomfort or constant
adjusting. It’s a game-changer for women who have struggled to find supportive swimwear designed for real movement.
My BounceDown swimsuit makes me feel so confident and good about myself. It's clearly designed to fit and celebrate big boobs. When you feel comfortable AND confident in yourself, it translates to your performance and interactions.
And that’s exactly what we believe in at BounceDown—helping women feel strong,
comfortable, confident and ready to take on the water.
A Big Goal on the Horizon
Jordi’s next challenge? Swimming in the Port to Pub as part of a duo in March—her first time swimming to Rottnest Island!
My goal is to enjoy myself, be grateful to my crew, swim partner, and my body. It's a life goal of mine to do it solo, and I hope to do that next year!
Her dedication, mindset, and love for the sport are what make her such an inspiration.
Advice for New Swimmers
Thinking of getting into swimming but not sure where to start? Jordi’s advice is simple:
Find a friendly local club. Having people around you that believe in you really helps you to have a go, get up early, or sign up for your events and races that would have previously scared you.
Swimming is about community, confidence, and taking the leap—just like Jordi has.
We’re so excited to cheer her on at Port to Pub! If you’re looking for swimwear that moves with you, check out our D+ cup designs—created for women who refuse to be held back.
